Laser Confusion: The Myriad of Information and Misinformation on Lasers in Dental/Periodontal Care

Course Info

Find yourself wondering which laser is for which procedure? Do they really work? If so, how? Dr. Paris will discuss how laser energy affects oral tissues, the differences between types of lasers, and which lasers are used for which applications (and which will do damage).

Participants will come away with a much better understanding of the different lasers used in dentistry, dental hygiene, periodontal surgery, and periodontal treatment. The myth that “one laser does it all” will clearly be dispelled.

What I will learn?

  • Understand the different types of lasers currently in use in dentistry and which procedures are best performed with the use of each.
  • Understand the physics of specific lasers used in dentistry.
  • Understand the success rates and clinical results of using specific lasers and specific applications in dentistry through review of the literature as well as presentation of clinical cases.
